At Kincaid Medical Associates we believe that good health is the foundation for everything. We believe that when health is absent wisdom cannot reveal itself, art cannot manifest, strength cannot fight, wealth becomes useless, and intelligence cannot be applied. For these important reasons, we ambitiously endeavor to utilize our knowledge and experience in healthcare to heal the whole individual, so that he or she is better equipped to live a more vibrant life.
Dr. Kincaid grew up in a humble environment in New York City. Her father, Louis Kincaid, worked as a maintenance man at Harlem Hospital and eventually was promoted to be the first African-American plumber in the department of hospitals in New York. Her mother, Miriam, was a child-care worker. Dr. Kincaid graduated with a Bachelors degree in Sociology and a minor in Education from City College of New York, then went on to graduate from Temple University School of Medicine in 1984 with an M.D. degree.
Dr. Kincaid taught school in the Borough of Bronx until cutbacks were made in the City budget and she was laid off. At that time, she held several jobs and continued to pursue her first love: dance.
As a member of the Chuck Davis Dance Company, Ladji Camara Dance Company and The International Afrikan-American Ballet, she performed at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Carnegie Hall, New York City Dance Mobile and numerous Colleges and Concert halls around the United States and Canada. She was employed as a model and appeared on several album covers including: Billy Pauls "Ebony Woman, and Norman Connors "You Are My Starship.
Dr. Kincaid became a vegetarian in 1971 and experimented with several vegetarian diets including: macrobiotic, lacto-ovo, grapefruit, vegan, soy-meat derivatives and several others. In 1983, while attending Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, she was introduced to "Living Foods". This is a vegan diet where everything is raw and organic. The food was extremely tasty and she was totally energized. She no longer needed caffeine to do those thirty-six hour shifts in the hospital." This is the diet that totally changed her life!
Dr. Kincaid likes to work with people where they are. She helps them to make gradual changes. Many have to crawl before they can walk. Making radical changes after one has been eating and living a certain way their whole life requires time and patience. She coaches her patients into the transition. For the critically ill, she will try to move the changes along faster.
Dr. Kincaid is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice which is a degree conferred on those who have completed extensive extra continuing medical education and remain a member of the Academy. Dr. Kincaid is also a member of The American College of Advancement in Medicine and The National Medical Association. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Practice. Rosa has also studied Acupuncture with the Academy of Pain Research in San Francisco and received a certificate of competency in acupuncture from St. Lukes hospital in San Francisco.
Dr. Kincaid is also an aerobics instructor specializing in step aerobics and "Cardio-Funk". She is a member of a cardio-funk dance group that has performed at several health-related functions. She loves to sew, knit and crochet. She is also the proud mother of two, a grandmother, and a wife.
